About the Role

Join Royal Mail as a Postal Delivery Driver based at the Ipswich Delivery Office (IP1 1AA) on a fixed-term contract of 12 months. This position involves delivering mail and parcels within the Ipswich community while working 37 hours per week on a rotating schedule across 5 days over a 7-day period, including Sundays. The shifts typically run from 07:15 to 15:15 or 12:45 to 20:00.

Key Responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office efficiently.
• Deliver post using a Royal Mail van and on foot throughout your designated local area.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers.
• Operate outdoors in all weather conditions, ensuring timely and secure deliveries.

What You’ll Experience

• An active role involving walking long distances of up to 12 miles daily (over 20,000 steps).
• Daily driving of a Royal Mail van to complete delivery routes.
• Handling high volumes of parcels alongside letters, especially during peak periods.
• A fast-paced and physically demanding routine requiring resilience and organization.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of a full manual UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points, registered under current name and address.
• Ability and willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily, including passing a driving assessment.
• Physically fit to walk long distances, climb stairs or hills, and carry mailbags weighing 10kg or more.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently outdoors.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain resilience under pressure.
• Customer-focused attitude with pride in delivering excellent service.
