Role overview

OXID eSales AG is looking for a Portfolio Developer to help shape and expand its technical OXID portfolio. The focus is on platform development, modules, migrations, AI-related use cases, and solution-oriented offerings that fit customer and partner needs.

Requirements

Applicants need a work permit for Germany. German language skills must be fluent.

• Strong practical knowledge of PHP, Symfony, and MySQL, along with hands-on experience building shop modules.
• Solid experience with OXID gained through your own development work, ideally involving integrations, migrations, or modules.
• Good understanding of e-commerce platforms, system architectures, and complex shop environments.
• Background in product management, such as product ownership, technical concept development, or a similar position.
• Ability to discuss technical matters in depth with engineering teams and translate needs clearly for leadership, partners, and customers.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical topics in a way different audiences can understand.
• Capability to mentor junior Portfolio Developers and support their professional growth.
• Strategic mindset for identifying customer and partner needs and turning them into relevant portfolio topics and recommendations.
• Structured, analytical, and independent working style, with the motivation to help shape a role positioned between market, product, technology, and solution design.
• Fluent written and spoken German and English.

Responsibilities

• Further develop the technical OXID portfolio with attention to the platform, modules, migrations, AI applications, and practical solution offers.
• Review market, customer, and partner demands and assess which topics are strategically important for OXID.
• Organize and prioritize requirements so they can be translated into a clear roadmap.
• Lead technical discussions with customers, partners, and internal teams, convert outcomes into precise requirements, and make them tangible through technical prototypes.
• Track changes in the e-commerce market, competitors, technologies, and AI-based solutions, then derive concrete portfolio ideas from those insights.
• Help position topics such as migrations, platform evolution, modules, and AI use cases in a strategic way.

Working model and team

You can work either from the office in central Freiburg im Breisgau or fully from home. The company has been working successfully in a 100% remote setup for many years.
