Payroll Specialist

About the Role

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is hiring a Payroll Specialist to manage payroll operations and Dayforce system administration for a multi-provincial workforce, including Quebec. This position focuses on accurate, compliant payroll processing and improving system efficiency across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Run end-to-end payroll processing, including year-end reconciliations and statutory filings such as T4s and RL-1s, while staying aligned with federal and provincial rules.
• Handle payroll-related employee changes and entitlements, including new hires, pay adjustments, departures, pension deductions, vacation, sick leave, STD, and parental leave top-ups.
• Review and maintain time and attendance records to ensure accurate hours, overtime, and leave tracking.
• Prepare payroll corrections, reconciliations, and reports for different business units.
• Act as Dayforce administrator by resolving issues, managing employee records, and working with support teams on system improvements.
• Assist with audits, compliance activities, and Workers’ Compensation Board reporting.
• Keep track of legislative updates and help improve payroll processes for better accuracy and efficiency.
• Take on other related duties as needed.

What You Need

• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification.
• At least 2 to 3 years of payroll experience, ideally with multi-provincial payroll exposure, including Quebec.
• Strong hands-on experience with Dayforce HCM for payroll processing, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Dayforce time and attendance tools and system integrations such as Workday.
• Solid Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
• Working knowledge of the full payroll cycle, including year-end activities.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Comfort working with employees across different levels of the organization.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-moving environment.
• Professional composure under pressure and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Bilingual English/French is an advantage.
