Job description

About ShipTop

ShipTop is a premier eCommerce fulfillment company that leverages cutting-edge technology combined with a customer-centric approach to help businesses expand. Their integrated digital platform includes a multi-channel order and inventory management system complemented by a rapid, reliable fulfillment process, enabling eCommerce sellers to grow efficiently. Known for excellent customer satisfaction, ShipTop delivers top-tier services at competitive pricing, making fulfillment accessible to companies of all sizes.

Role Overview

The Parcel Shipping Analyst will focus on analyzing ShipTop's parcel shipping expenditures with the goal of reducing costs. Using an internal parcel spend analysis tool, the analyst will scrutinize shipping data to uncover billing inaccuracies, performance failures, and opportunities for savings. The role involves handling carrier disputes, monitoring recoveries, and eventually leading negotiation efforts related to shipping rates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine parcel shipping data through ShipTop's analysis software to detect invoice errors, excess charges, and irregularities.
  • Verify carrier invoices against agreed contracts, surcharges, and service agreements.
  • Initiate and oversee billing disputes and claims for service-related refunds with carriers such as UPS and FedEx.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of carrier rate cards, including dimensional weight pricing, additional fees, and surcharge frameworks.
  • Track changes in carrier rates, surcharge adjustments, and contractual terms.
  • Create reports detailing spending patterns, dispute outcomes, and areas for potential savings.
  • Assist in and later take ownership of negotiating carrier rates using data-driven insights.
  • Collaborate closely with operations and finance teams to align on strategic shipping cost decisions.
  • Stay updated on industry practices and evolving parcel carrier pricing methodologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, especially with large data sets and spreadsheets.
  • Background in invoice auditing, cost or financial analysis, or procurement is advantageous.
  • While prior parcel shipping or logistics experience is beneficial, it is not mandatory; a strong desire to master carrier contracts and pricing models is critical.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to seeing disputes and reimbursements through to resolution.
  • Exceptional written communication skills for interacting with carriers and internal documentation.
  • Proficiency in data tools such as Excel or Google Sheets is required; familiarity with SQL or business intelligence platforms is a plus.
  • Experience or interest in negotiation is a bonus.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
