About Lambton College

Role Overview
This part-time support staff role, reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing and Health Sciences, pays an hourly wage of $35.67. The Paramedic Lab Technologist will use specialized technical expertise and independent judgment to deliver services that meet student needs. They will collaborate with faculty and program coordinators to optimize training strategies, equipment usage, and inventory management.
The technologist's responsibilities include supporting curriculum delivery in the Paramedic program by assisting with lab activities, conducting practical skills assessments, and offering remedial support to students. They will also provide recommendations regarding equipment requirements.
Specific Duties
- Demonstrate appropriate techniques for using materials and equipment and ensure the safe operation of lab facilities and tools following faculty instructions.
- Prepare instructional materials, work closely with faculty, and provide specialized technical expertise by demonstrating and clarifying previously instructed theory to students.
- Be thoroughly familiar with each lab's requirements and intended learning objectives.
- Encourage, reinforce, test, and evaluate practical lab skills among students.
- Contribute to student evaluation processes in labs using structured criteria.
- Monitor student activities during labs.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of a two-year Primary Care Paramedic diploma.
- Possession of Base Hospital Certification with active paramedic practice.
- At least three years of practical paramedic experience.
- Experience supporting instruction in postsecondary education is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and evaluation skills to address diverse situations.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication capabilities.
- A demonstrated dedication to student success and satisfaction.
- Self-motivated, professional, conscientious, and flexible work ethic.
Additional Information
Only one position is available. Weekly hours will be established between 4 and 12 based on program demands and candidate availability upon hiring. The role covers terms less than twelve months, including the Fall term (September to December) and Winter term (January to April).
