Job Summary

This is a full-time permanent opportunity based in Cork and surrounding counties. The Optical Assistant will join our Retinal Technicians team to assist in capturing eye photographs that detect retinal damage caused by diabetic complications. Prior experience is not mandatory, making this an ideal entry point into healthcare or a growth opportunity for existing healthcare professionals aiming to expand their skills. Comprehensive training and ongoing support from experienced specialists will be provided.

Team Environment

You will work alongside senior diabetic retinal technicians, team leaders, and supported by a dedicated administration team, programme manager, and clinical lead. Our professionals are either already experts or are developing expertise in retinopathy, ensuring you have continual guidance and assistance.

Key Qualifications and Skills

• No prior experience required
• Must hold a clean full Irish driving licence and have a secure location to store the company vehicle
• Strong dedication to delivering excellent patient care and outcomes
• Proficiency with IT tools including word processing, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office applications
• Capacity to take initiative, prioritize daily tasks, and employ problem-solving abilities
• Self-motivated with a proactive work ethic, capable of working independently following initial training
• Effective communication skills across all levels

Additional Information

• Eligibility to work and travel within the EU is mandatory; verification documentation will be required
• Employment is contingent upon successful vetting, reference checks, and occupational health assessments
• Garda Vetting may also be necessary depending on role specifics
