Overview
The Operation Officer role involves managing daily transport logistics including planning and assigning trucks, drivers, and routes to ensure efficient delivery processes. The position is based in Ndola, Copperbelt Province, Zambia, requiring close coordination with multiple stakeholders to maintain operational excellence and service quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop daily plans for trucks, drivers, and routes to optimize transportation flow.
- Supervise timely loading, dispatch, and delivery of shipments ensuring deadlines are met.
- Track fuel usage, mileage, and maintenance costs for each trip, investigating any irregularities such as excessive fuel consumption or mechanical failures.
- Take measures to minimize operational expenses while maintaining service standards.
- Compile and submit detailed daily and weekly reports including trip sheets, logbooks, waybills, maintenance documentation, and incident records.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation to satisfy Finance and Compliance requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with customers, warehouses, and milling plants for smooth loading and unloading operations.
- Address client complaints promptly and professionally to safeguard the company's reputation and customer satisfaction.
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- Holder of a Diploma or Degree in Transport, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Possess at least three years of relevant experience, especially in transport operations, which will be advantageous.
- Familiarity with Zambian Road Traffic Act, RTSA regulations, and hands-on experience with fleet management systems and GPS tracking technology.
- Excellent organizational skills complemented by strong reporting and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Maintains a good personal and professional reputation, free from any history of fraud or misconduct.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, fleet management software, and report writing.
