Company Overview
A leading company in Exploration & Production (E & P) sector is seeking a Planning & Reporting Engineer to join their team in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.
Position Summary
This role involves the development, monitoring, and analysis of project schedules alongside preparing comprehensive reports detailing deadlines, progress updates, and key performance indicators. The engineer will be pivotal in managing the onshore project package to provide a trustworthy and unified representation of project progression that aids decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain detailed project schedules across hierarchical levels (1 to 4), including defining Work Breakdown Structure, milestones, and interfaces.
- Integrate and reconcile schedules from various disciplines and contractors to ensure alignment.
- Identify critical paths, available float, and potential delays or risks within the schedule.
- Recommend optimization and recovery plans to improve schedule adherence.
- Gather and analyze actual physical progress data, updating schedules and project completion forecasts weekly.
- Conduct variance analyses comparing baseline, actual progress, and forecasts, determining underlying causes.
- Prepare routine weekly and monthly reports covering planning progress, critical milestones, KPIs, alerts, and key issues.
- Contribute reporting data for integrated project planning, and provide accurate information to project management, line business units, and partners.
- Guarantee the consistency, reliability, and accuracy of all disseminated data.
- Collaborate closely with project control, cost control groups, technical teams, EPC contractors, and project management to ensure integrated planning and control.
- Attend project meetings focused on planning, coordination, and reviews.
- Apply and adhere strictly to project planning and reporting standards and procedures.
- Recommend proactive enhancements to current methods and tools to advance effectiveness.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary oil and gas project execution with a focus on interfacing various teams.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 for project scheduling.
- Knowledge of Power BI or similar business intelligence tools for reporting and analysis.
- Strong analytical capabilities along with synthesis skills to interpret project data effectively.
- A proactive approach with constructive critical thinking to support continuous improvement.
