National Manager - Procurement and Commercial

About the Role

New Zealand Blood and Organ Service (NZBS) is committed to saving lives by providing essential blood, plasma, organ transplantation, cellular therapy, and tissue banking services nationwide. Through the generosity of donors, NZBS ensures timely and safe delivery of blood and tissue products across New Zealand.

The National Manager – Procurement and Commercial will oversee procurement and supplier management strategies for NZBS, aiming to achieve optimal commercial, operational, and strategic results across a broad range of goods and services. This position supports enhanced transparency and governance in procurement activities while ensuring appropriate business ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive commercial and financial performance outcomes.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies.
• Provide leadership to procurement teams and functions.
• Lead strategic sourcing, cost control, and value creation initiatives.
• Manage supplier relationships effectively.
• Lead risk management and resilience efforts.

Qualifications and Experience

• Extensive procurement experience in complex organizational environments.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Strong expertise in commercial contracting and negotiation.
• Experience working within highly regulated industries.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and influence capabilities.
• Background in procurement systems and digital tool implementation.
• Preferably hold a Degree in Business, Commerce, Procurement, Law, or a related field.
• Strong analytical abilities and commercial insight.
• Familiarity with AI and digital transformation initiatives.
