Merchandiser

Role Overview

Next Sourcing Limited is looking for a proactive and commercially aware Merchandiser focused on sourcing for its Tiruppur operations. This position is centered on finding, assessing, and bringing new supplier partners into the business to support sourcing expansion and overall growth.

What the Role Involves

• Track down and assess fresh supplier options by reviewing their manufacturing capability, production capacity, compliance readiness, product fit, and geographic advantage.
• Build and sustain strong working relationships with prospective suppliers, complete first-round factory checks, and present the NEXT SOURCING profile to them.
• Run weekly supplier sourcing discussions and share shortlisted supplier options with the Merchandising, Technical, and Compliance teams for evaluation and final decisions.
• Organize and carry out factory visits to verify due diligence, review compliance practices, study product ranges, understand brand exposure, and identify important senior leadership contacts.
• Keep all follow-up actions from sourcing meetings moving forward and ensure they are closed within the expected timelines.
• Maintain an up-to-date supplier repository covering prospective, approved, rejected, and onboarded vendors.
• Handle supplier onboarding work, including uploading the required documents into the NSS system and coordinating with Compliance teams for final audits and approvals.
• Assist in smoothly integrating new suppliers into the business by coordinating between stakeholders and managing the process end to end.

Requirements

• A degree or professional qualification in Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a similar discipline.
• Prior experience in merchandising, sourcing, supplier management, or a comparable role in the apparel sector.
• Good knowledge of supplier assessment, factory compliance checks, and sourcing workflows.
• Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
• Comfort with visiting factories and independently evaluating suppliers.
• Well-developed analytical, organizational, and follow-up skills with a sharp eye for detail.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
