About AngloGold Ashanti Ghana and Role Overview

AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited is actively transforming the Obuasi Gold Mine into a state-of-the-art and efficient mining operation, aiming for sustainable profitability. This underground mine will be well mechanized with a production capacity of up to 5,000 tonnes of ore daily. We are looking for a knowledgeable and driven Materials Planner to join our committed team.

Role Purpose and Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly materials planning activities critical to mine operations and materials requirement decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Planned Maintenance, Warehousing, Purchasing, and Finance teams as coordinated by the Materials Planning Superintendent.
  • Adhere to materials management systems, policies, and standards aligned with AngloGold Ashanti's materials management and supply chain frameworks.
  • Conduct materials planning routines including CIR processes, cataloguing new items, managing materials engineering, and stock replenishment aligned with mine redevelopment and operational readiness.
  • Ensure accurate SAP Materials Master data through disciplined cataloguing and governance practices.
  • Utilize appropriate tools and documentation to facilitate smooth workflow between materials planning and other departments.
  • Enforce governance policies to validate the cataloguing and stocking of routine and critical materials.
  • Provide guidance to end-users regarding substitute materials, specification changes, and new stock code creation.
  • Engage in continuous professional development focusing on cataloguing and materials planning best practices using SAP ERP.
  • Apply understanding of inventory and materials planning models for managing critical and routine spare parts and consumables.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data maintaining high standards of quality assurance and control.
  • Assess SAP stock replenishment reports objectively and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Monitor and facilitate purchase requisition to purchase order cycles within internal KPI timelines.
  • Foster effective collaboration across departments.
  • Share materials planning expertise and advice with stakeholders.
  • Prepare internal and statutory reports detailing stock values, turnover rates, service levels, obsolete stock, new stock introductions, critical item service levels, complaint resolutions, and statutory returns such as MinCom submissions.
  • Maintain open communication with peers and supervisors regarding performance and feedback.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Higher National Diploma (HND).
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management is advantageous.

Experience

  • At least three years of experience in a supply chain role.
  • Practical knowledge of inventory planning and control in industries such as mining, oil & gas, or heavy industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency in SAP ERP or equivalent enterprise resource planning systems.

Technical Skills and Competencies

  • Expertise in inventory planning, control, forecasting, and statistical modeling.
  • Capability to align inventory management with commodity strategies.
  • Understanding of relationships between stock-out risks, service levels, and inventory investment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective presentation and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant local regulations.
  • Experience in cost, project, risk, and change management.
  • Competence in reporting, audit, compliance, and governance.
