Job Overview

The Marine & Operations Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of designated vessels. This position entails collaborating closely with various internal departments, ship owners, charterers, and external partners to streamline voyage operations, ensure adherence to regulations, and maintain timely communication on operational matters.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a degree or diploma in Shipping Studies, Maritime Studies, or a related field, OR seagoing officer experience on tankers, or relevant ship operations expertise.
  • Proficient written and spoken English language skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the maritime and shipping industries.
  • Excellent skills in coordination, communication, and organization.
  • Capability to work independently with initiative as well as collaboratively within a team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the operational capabilities and limitations of the assigned vessels.
  • Coordinate activities with the Responsible Team and ensure effective communication with departments such as Operations, Technical, Crewing, Marine, Vetting, and Commercial concerning vessel schedules and operations.
  • Track voyage orders and consult with Senior Ship Operators or Operations Managers if any irregularities arise.
  • Oversee cargo operations to confirm vessels carry only certified and operationally appropriate cargoes.
  • Organize tank cleaning processes as required, in collaboration with Marine, Technical departments, and Senior Ship Operator.
  • Monitor trading zones and facilitate additional insurance for voyages through International War Zones, High-Risk Areas, USA, Canada, or similar regions by coordinating with the Insurance & Claims Department.
  • Inform the Company Security Officer to conduct risk assessments and secure approvals for visits to high-risk or war-affected areas.
  • Work closely with the Sanctions Liaison Team to verify completion of necessary sanctions screenings.
  • Support vessel owners and Masters with operational issues tied to charterers' expenses, claims, and document compliance with charter party agreements.
  • Coordinate the provision of FuelEU Maritime and EU ETS compliance statements with owners and charterers as required.
  • Keep Commercial Offices and Time Charterers updated on vessel vetting statuses.
  • Oversee third-party inspections such as SIRE and CDI, ensuring alignment with Charter Party and Owners' standards in partnership with the Vetting Team.
  • Update Q88 documentation including vessel certificates and expiry dates related to vetting approvals.
  • Report operational incidents or significant events promptly to the assigned Managers and Directors.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by management to support vessel operations.
