Job description
Overview
The Manufacturing Operator is tasked with executing the production plan and operating designated machinery to support the manufacturing and packaging of finished concentrates, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and process standards. This position requires fundamental knowledge of production operations to help achieve product excellence and operational safety.
Core Responsibilities
- Operate assigned processing and packaging machinery according to standardized procedures and manuals.
- Execute thorough cleaning and sanitation of equipment adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Inspect raw materials to verify conformance to specifications for salt and dry concentrate production.
- Prepare raw materials in line with production schedules and quality requirements.
- Transport raw materials and batch concentrates within the facility, which may involve the use of forklifts and pallet stackers.
- Manage product and package transitions efficiently during production.
- Utilize SAP for processing orders, inventory management, and goods receipt transactions.
- Operate equipment manually or with basic automation support.
- Follow safety protocols related to dust collection systems and general worksite safety guidelines.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic care of machinery to ensure operational efficiency.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas through 5S practices and routine cleaning.
- Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives focusing on waste reduction (OE Eight wastes) and Kaizen culture.
- Update visual management boards and maintain accurate production and operational records.
- Comply with health and safety policies rigorously to uphold workplace safety standards.
- Undertake other duties or projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Preferably holding a NITEC certification or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 3 years of technical experience in the food and beverage manufacturing sector is favored.
- Basic operational knowledge of production lines and machinery.
Knowledge and Technical Skills
- Familiarity with processing and packaging equipment operation.
- Basic ability in equipment troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Competency in basic computer applications, including email, Word, and Excel.
- Experience or knowledge of SAP software is advantageous.
- Understanding and application of 5S principles is preferred.
Safety Competencies
- Strict adherence to safe work practices and standard operating procedures.
- Compliance with company safety policies and personal protective equipment guidelines.
- Proper chemical storage and management adherence.
Quality Assurance Competencies
- Knowledge of GMP including aspects such as housekeeping, personal hygiene, pest control, access restrictions, and cleaning facility design.
- Experience performing basic quality inspections and analytical testing.
- Understanding food safety standards.
- Forklift, motorized and manual pallet stacker operation skills considered an advantage.
