About the Role
EY invites you to join their leading Climate Change and Sustainability Services team as a Manager. This team is the largest sustainability consulting group in Oceania, working extensively with major companies in New Zealand and Australia to address climate risks and sustainability challenges. The focus spans environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, climate risk, decarbonisation, human rights, and modern slavery advisories and assurance. This role primarily supports reporting and assurance engagements and operates across New Zealand and Australia as one cohesive team. The position is hybrid but based in Auckland or Wellington with potential flexible working hours.
Key Duties
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams across multiple industries to aid organizations in managing and reporting on a wide variety of sustainability and climate-related risks and impacts.
- Lead engagement teams while providing guidance and professional development support to staff.
- Oversee project operations ensuring effective communication with clients, teams, and senior leaders to meet deadlines and deliver superior work outputs.
- Conduct assurance engagements of non-financial reports, focusing on sustainability metrics, emissions, and energy reports across sectors.
- Advise clients on formulating and implementing strategies for non-financial reporting including sustainability data, emissions, and energy use within various industries.
- Contribute to the development of strategies, methodologies, and analytical frameworks to assist clients in complying with regulations and managing stakeholder expectations.
- Support clients in creating and executing sustainability plans, setting targets, and enhancing value on topics such as diversity, waste management, modern slavery, and environmental impacts.
- Assist in climate scenario analyses to evaluate risks and opportunities, guiding short- and long-term management goals.
Required Expertise and Attributes
- Genuine enthusiasm and professional focus on climate and sustainability topics with a continuous learning mindset.
- Experience working in professional services or consulting environments.
- Tertiary qualification in quantitative disciplines such as engineering, mathematics, science, commerce, accounting, business, or physics.
- Hands-on experience in climate change-related services within professional services, government, or industry sectors.
- Proficiency in greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting practices.
- Demonstrated capability in reporting and/or assurance of GHG emissions.
- Familiarity with New Zealand's climate reporting regulations and awareness of Australian Accounting Standard Board S2 requirements.
- Proven leadership skills including team management, coaching, and staff development.
- Knowledge of climate and nature disclosure standards, including the Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) and Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosure (TNFD) frameworks.
- Expertise in decarbonisation strategies, climate risk management, and climate strategy implementation.
- Agility in learning on the job and problem-solving to deliver optimal client solutions.
