About the Role

Wairakei Resort Taupō is seeking a proactive and skilled Maintenance Assistant to join their Engineering team on a part-time, fixed-term contract until April 1, 2027. The position offers the chance to work at one of New Zealand's most renowned resorts, contributing to the upkeep of accommodations, common areas, and guest facilities to ensure a high quality experience.

Key Duties

  • Execute general repairs and preventive maintenance throughout the resort.
  • Perform painting, plastering, and finishing tasks with attention to quality.
  • Quickly address guest maintenance requests and fix reported faults.
  • Participate in room refurbishments and development projects.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain outdoor elements such as pathways, gardens, signage, and various resort facilities as needed.
  • Safely operate and care for tools and equipment.
  • Follow all health and safety protocols in completing work.
  • Assist the Engineering team with planned servicing and larger initiatives when required.
  • Keep workshop and storage areas tidy, organised, and well-stocked.

Qualifications and Attributes

  • Previous experience in maintenance, handyman work, building, or related trades.
  • Proficiency in painting and finishing tasks up to high standards.
  • Practical problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently and manage own workload.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering quality work.
  • Physical fitness suitable for lifting and carrying equipment.
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Preferably hold a current full New Zealand driver's licence.

Additional Details

The role involves working hours scheduled between 7 AM and 8 PM on a roster basis, including weekend shifts. Applicants must have legitimate working rights in New Zealand, as sponsorship is not provided.
