Role Summary

The Land Surveyor will carry out survey activities on-site in Ras Al Khaimah under the direction of the Resident Engineer. The position involves working with contract documents, drawings, measurements, control points, setting-out verification, and survey records to support construction quality, alignment, and safety requirements.

Key Duties

• Review package contract documents, detailed drawings, specifications, health and safety requirements, and any related revisions.
• Carry out survey tasks as instructed by the Resident Engineer.
• Produce new data from photogrammetric records and set up primary horizontal and vertical control points, including reference ties for re-establishing field points.
• Accurately document measurements, rod readings, and calculations in field books during the course of the work.
• Check survey data for accuracy, including site measurements and calculations.
• Work with the contractor’s surveyor to coordinate priorities and schedules.
• Verify work by carrying out traverse closures and bench circuits.
• Escalate discrepancies and technical issues to the team leader.
• Participate in joint measurements for completed work or payment purposes.
• Confirm that completed work matches required line and grade in coordination with the assigned inspector.
• Regularly inspect the contractor’s setting-out work to ensure it is executed correctly and accurately.
• Keep surveying equipment in good working condition and perform frequent calibration checks.
• Maintain precise notes, sketches, and records to document and certify completed work.
• Coordinate survey findings with engineering and architectural staff, clients, and other project stakeholders.
• Compute heights, depths, relative positions, property boundaries, and other terrain characteristics.
• Prepare or oversee preparation of charts, plots, maps, records, data sets, and other survey documentation.
• Create and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions associated with surveys.
• Plan and perform ground surveys to establish baselines, elevations, and geodetic measurements.
• Follow site safety rules and quality procedures, and help monitor construction health and safety compliance.
• Report any safety violations observed on the construction works.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in land surveying is required.
• A diploma or bachelor’s degree is needed.
