Junior to Intermediate Mechanical Designer

Role Overview

This position is responsible for completing assigned engineering design projects through all phases, from initial concept to production implementation. Responsibilities include design activities, calculations, clear communication, detailed drawings, and preparing bills of material. The role reports directly to the Product Improvement Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out engineering design tasks and projects supporting prototyping, testing, and new product development following established processes.
• Manage own workload to meet deadlines aligned with project schedules and lead times, monitor task status and progress, and communicate risks or changes.
• Perform engineering calculations and analyses to ensure designs meet criteria, standards, and regulations.
• Review engineering documents, service instructions, and manufacturing guides as authorized.
• Create engineering designs that comply with customer specifications, contractual documents, and applicable industry standards or best practices, focusing on performance, manufacturability, and design philosophy alignment.
• Conduct controlled testing of components and systems to comply with contract and vendor requirements, verifying reliability and fit.
• Prepare and release engineering drawings and documentation per procedural standards.
• Collaborate with suppliers and customers on design matters during development, facilitating Supplier Application Approval as needed.
• Participate in project design reviews.
• Document appropriate use and application of supplier products, including approvals and any testing or audits required.
• Support product launch integration with Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, and other departments.
• Develop and maintain product requirements and technical content consistent with specifications.
• Review bid documents such as specifications, technical summaries, and supplier quotations for accuracy and compliance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma or degree from a technical institute or university in drafting or technology.
• Between 1 to 10 years of experience in mechanical design.
• Proficiency in NX design software.
• Ability to function effectively as a team member.
• Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
• Competent with Microsoft Office suite.
• Willingness and ability to travel to the United States as required.
