Junior Business Analyst

Position Overview

Stellar Recruitment Inc. is looking to place a Junior Business Analyst within the IT team of a client company based in downtown Vancouver. This is a one-year contractual role with a strong potential for extension, contingent on performance and cultural fit. The role offers an excellent chance for early-career professionals to gain comprehensive experience throughout the complete software development lifecycle while working on a mix of custom and third-party applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with business stakeholders and technical teams to collect, analyze, document, and manage business requirements for IT initiatives and application upgrades.
• Participate actively in software development phases including project planning, grooming product backlogs, sprint planning, testing, deployment, and post-launch support.
• Collaborate with developers to convert business requirements into proficient technical solutions, supporting system setup, troubleshooting, and resolving issues.
• Create and implement test plans, validate functionalities, record test outcomes, and assist with user acceptance testing to guarantee quality deliveries.
• Maintain thorough project documentation including workflows, business requirements, user manuals, and supporting materials during the project lifecycle.
• Contribute to the generation of operational reports and support initiatives for continuous process improvements for both in-house and vendor-supported applications.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.
• 1 to 4 years of relevant experience in business analysis, IT project delivery, or systems analysis, with hands-on involvement in requirement gathering, testing, and application support.
• Familiarity with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies, including working alongside developers to deliver technology solutions.
• Proficiency with SQL or similar data extraction tools; experience in application configuration or solution development is advantageous.
• Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve business or IT challenges effectively.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time management capabilities with a proactive and cooperative approach to handling multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.

Compensation and Work Details

The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000 per year, depending on experience. The role requires physical presence five days a week at the downtown Vancouver office.
