Role overview

SSC Services for Education is seeking full-time janitors right away for school facility cleaning work in Alexandria, Virginia. The position supports clean, safe, and distraction-free learning spaces for students, staff, and visitors.

Location

The primary site is Alexandria City High School at 3330 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22302. Additional openings may also be available at other locations within the school district.

Schedule

This is a full-time role with varying days. Standard working hours are 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, and further scheduling details will be shared during the interview. The employer also notes flexibility for full-time and part-time coverage to suit scheduling needs.

Compensation

The fixed pay rate for this role is $15.30 per hour.

What the job involves

The janitor will keep assigned buildings and areas clean, orderly, and sanitary. Work includes heavy cleaning tasks such as floor care, rug shampooing, wall and glass cleaning, trash removal, surface sanitizing, and other routine custodial duties.

Key duties

• Remove and dispose of trash according to approved procedures and infection-control standards.
• Dust and damp mop floors using approved methods.
• Move furniture and equipment as needed for proper cleaning, then return items to their correct places.
• Clean assigned areas with designated materials and equipment and sanitize all surfaces.
• Follow the eight-step cleaning process.
• Wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other surfaces to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Identify areas that need attention and take initiative to complete cleaning tasks.
• Carry out work assigned by the supervisor.
• Follow all applicable federal, state, and county guidelines.
• Strip, scrub, buff, and refinish floors; shampoo carpets as needed.
• Work cooperatively with the team and maintain professionalism with customers, coworkers, and others.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Experience requirement

At least one year of prior janitorial experience is required.
