Role overview
This opportunity is shared on behalf of a partner organization that handles the application review and all subsequent hiring steps. The role is for a U.S.-based Institutional Research Analyst who will turn institutional information into practical insights that guide planning and decision-making within a higher education setting.
You will work with data tied to student outcomes, enrollment movement, and academic performance, helping strengthen institutional effectiveness, compliance, and ongoing improvement efforts. The position involves close coordination with academic and administrative teams to keep information accurate, accessible, and easy to interpret. It is well-suited to someone who enjoys blending data analysis, reporting, and higher education strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Gather, check, and evaluate institutional information covering enrollment, student achievement, faculty output, and other important performance measures.
- Build and update dashboards, reports, and visual summaries that clearly present institutional metrics.
- Assist with internal and external reporting for accrediting agencies, government entities, and senior institutional leaders.
- Maintain strong data quality, accuracy, and compliance with institutional research expectations and required reporting rules.
- Study trends, benchmarks, and proven practices in higher education to support planning and informed decisions.
- Work alongside academic and administrative departments to strengthen data governance, reporting workflows, and overall data quality.
- Handle information requests from leadership, faculty, and staff promptly and accurately.
- Keep up with new tools, methods, and regulatory updates that affect institutional research and analytics.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- At least 2 years of experience in institutional research, data analysis, higher education administration, or a similar analytical function.
- Strong ability in statistics, analysis, and problem-solving, including experience working with complex datasets.
- Hands-on experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, SQL, and Excel.
- Knowledge of institutional research methods, accreditation expectations, and higher education data governance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex data to different audiences.
- Understanding of compliance obligations and reporting standards used by state and federal education agencies.
- Capability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively across teams.
