Job description
Role Overview
This position involves managing the entire spectrum of import documentation and customs clearance activities. The executive will engage closely with Customs House Agents (CHA), customs officials, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and transporters to ensure smooth import operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all import documentation and customs clearance procedures.
- Liaise with CHA, customs authorities, shipping companies, freight forwarders, and transporters to coordinate shipments.
- Prepare and scrutinize critical documentation such as Bill of Entry, Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading (BL), and Air Waybill (AWB).
- Administer CHA costing, customs duties, freight charges, CFS/Port fees, and other import-related expenses.
- Verify and validate CHA invoices and overall import costings accurately.
- Monitor shipments status to ensure clearance is achieved within set timelines.
- Maintain comprehensive import records and develop basic Management Information System (MIS) and costing reports.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Strong familiarity with HS Codes, customs duties, Basic Customs Duty (BCD), Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST), and general import procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting.
- Effective coordination and communication skills to work with multiple stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with backgrounds in Import-Export sectors, Trading, or industries focused on Pulses and Grains will be highly regarded.
