ID Install Technician - Data Center Communities

Job Overview

We are seeking a driven and skilled ID Install Technician to join the Rack Install team. This role demands working independently within a rapidly changing environment to lead installation processes for cutting-edge network infrastructure. The technician will support multiple data center sites, overseeing capacity management on a daily basis while collaborating with both internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless rack installation delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage workload and priorities efficiently using a ticketing and workflow system.
• Work collaboratively with various stakeholders to address and overcome project challenges.
• Travel extensively within the operational area, with up to 80% travel potentially outside the usual work zone.
• Diagnose and resolve networking, routing, and interconnectivity issues, including network device configurations and application-level interactions.
• Troubleshoot cabling infrastructure problems involving patch panels and patch cords.
• Determine power and cooling needs and ensure proper hardware racking and stacking for new equipment.
• Handle customer service requests through the Remedy trouble ticket system.
• Participate in hardware migrations, basic configuration setups, and deployment of new or updated equipment.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing computer hardware.
• Familiarity with networking concepts.
• Understands TCP/IP network protocols.
• Ability to lift and mount equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

• Customer service experience especially in high-pressure problem resolution.
• Knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards with associated testing and troubleshooting.
• Understanding of server hardware and components.
• Familiarity with cloud computing technologies.
