About the Role

Join Inchcape Africa's team in Addis Ababa as an HSE Business Partner, reporting to the HSE Manager Africa. You will play a pivotal role in promoting a culture centered on health, safety, environment, and employee wellbeing at site level within a global automotive distribution network. Your key focus will be enabling site teams to fully own their HSE responsibilities by assisting with implementation, training, and advisory support aligned with a pre-established Global HSE management system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply the global HSE framework to help sites take ownership of health and safety operations.
  • Facilitate the business in achieving all health and safety performance indicators.
  • Lead incident investigations and support the development of lasting corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Integrate and promote regional and group-wide risk management, cultural, and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Follow guidance from the overarching HSE Management department to align objectives and communications.
  • Assist with injury management initiatives aimed at supporting employee rehabilitation and return to work.
  • Support site management communication regarding monthly HSE performance metrics in line with regional and country reporting requirements.
  • Champion the deployment and implementation of HSE training programs as released by the global HSE team.

Candidate Profile

  • At least two years of experience supporting the management and control of HSE risks within a business environment.
  • Professional background in industrial, mechanical, environmental engineering or occupational health and safety.
  • Proven expertise in HSE and facilities management within complex manufacturing, industrial, or service organizations.
  • Experience in scenario planning, security strategies, crisis and contingency planning.
  • Proficiency in contract and project management, asset integrity, and HSE system oversight.
  • Valid certifications in HSE from accredited institutions such as NEBOSH, ISO 45001, ISO 14001; Lead Auditor certifications in OHS or environmental management are a plus.
  • Ability to respond effectively during emergency situations.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication (verbal and written), analytical, and numerical skills.
  • A passion for continuous process improvement and high attention to detail.
  • Capable to work effectively under pressure ensuring timely completion of tasks aligned with planning schedules.
  • Strong skills in influencing and negotiation.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
