Job description

Role Overview

Wychavon and Malvern Hills District Councils seek to recruit a dedicated Housing Options Advisor. The position is full-time, offering 37 hours per week on a permanent basis, located in Pershore, England. The annual salary ranges between £31,537 and £35,412. The Advisor will provide expert advice and support to individuals facing homelessness, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities under the Housing Act 1996 Part VII and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct client interviews with those seeking assistance due to homelessness.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify and implement solutions preventing or relieving homelessness.
  • Manage statutory and regulatory duties related to homelessness prevention and relief for the Council.
  • Draft formal communications confirming acceptance or conclusion of legal duties to clients.
  • Coordinate with statutory bodies and community organizations to investigate and mitigate homelessness situations.
  • Deliver personalized housing advice tailored to individual client circumstances.

Candidate Profile

  • Strong dedication to providing excellent customer service and support.
  • Experience working in housing or similar customer service roles.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member.
  • Proficient IT skills including good knowledge of relevant computer systems.
  • Innovative problem-solver capable of initiating service improvements.
  • Effective prioritization and management of diverse workloads.
  • Calm and empathetic approach to challenging or sensitive situations.
  • Solid understanding of housing legislation.
  • Good numeracy and literacy capabilities.
  • Successful completion of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is mandatory.

Additional Information

The role requires attendance at the office with some flexibility for agile working due to the emphasis on face-to-face communication and teamwork.
