About the Role
The Head Cashier is a key position that supports the Front End Supervisor by motivating front end associates to adhere to company behaviours and provide excellent customer service. This role involves coaching, training, and developing Front End and Lot Associates, managing staff schedules to ensure proper coverage, and acting as the first point of escalation for customer concerns.
Key Responsibilities
- Model and promote positive behaviours and maintain high associate morale.
- Ensure checkout lines are managed efficiently to keep wait times minimal.
- Regularly inspect the front end from a customer perspective to ensure readiness for events and promotions.
- Monitor staffing levels and work activities to meet operational demands.
- Provide comprehensive training, guidance, and motivation to associates to help them meet performance expectations and grow professionally.
- Communicate store goals and directives from leadership to associates effectively.
- Oversee the upkeep of the parking lot, ensuring it is clean and accessible.
- Manage backup cashiers and assign them to registers as needed.
- Operate cash registers and instruct cashiers on their use.
- Assist security personnel with cash collection processes.
- Adhere to all safety and loss prevention policies and ensure associates comply as well.

Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in retail or cash handling is preferred.
- At least 1 year of leadership experience managing people is necessary.
