Our collaborative spirit and commitment to inclusivity fuel innovations that make remarkable achievements possible, from space exploration to critical healthcare and massive industrial projects.

Grid Code Compliance Leadership

  • Develop and manage the comprehensive Grid Code Compliance Strategy along with the associated roadmap.
  • Guarantee adherence to the Saudi Arabian Grid Code, TRCG standards, utility connection agreements, and pertinent transmission regulations.
  • Set compliance milestones and oversee progress to ensure timely execution.
  • Deliver transparent updates regarding compliance status, risks, required decisions, and approvals.

Utility and Regulatory Engagement

  • Serve as the main technical liaison with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), transmission operators, regulators, and independent evaluators.
  • Lead technical workshops, compliance assessments, approval sessions, and address feedback effectively.
  • Coordinate resolution of regulator comments, technical inquiries, and document submission cycles.
  • Oversee approval processes for technical reports, study documents, and related materials.

Grid Compliance Studies Management

  • Direct dynamic studies such as DMAT, dynamic impact assessment, model benchmarking, voltage and frequency stability analyses.
  • Coordinate static studies including load flow, short circuit, reactive power, transformer energization, and transmission line auto-reclosing evaluations.
  • Manage power quality initiatives encompassing harmonic analysis, filter design validation, and overall power quality assessment.
  • Supervise grid interaction studies covering control interaction, small signal stability, subsynchronous control interactions, and inter-area oscillation assessments.

Coordination with OEMs and Contractors

  • Lead technical collaboration among solar, wind, BESS, electrolyser, STATCOM, EPC, consultants, and protection vendors.
  • Acquire and maintain validated models such as PSS/E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT, and RTDS as needed.
  • Monitor issue resolution by OEMs ensuring model updates meet compliance criteria.
  • Drive resolution of technical challenges that could impact study completion, regulatory approval, energization, or full operational load.

RTDS and Model Validation

  • Lead activities related to Real-Time Digital Simulator compliance and model benchmarking.
  • Facilitate hardware-in-the-loop and controller testing when required.
  • Ensure alignment across PSCAD, PSS/E, RTDS models, and installed site systems.
  • Provide support during Site Acceptance Testing and commissioning phases requiring validated models.

Controls and Protection Compliance

  • Confirm compliance for active power, voltage controls, fast generation and load shedding, protection strategies, and plant controller functions.
  • Coordinate validation for grid-forming and grid-following controls via studies, tests, and field verification.
  • Verify that control and protection logic uphold stable grid operation and meet utility agreements.

Risk Management

  • Detect and address risks related to grid connection approvals, delays in study completions, harmonic disturbances, model readiness, OEM performance, protection coordination, and regulatory adherence.
  • Formulate mitigation strategies and escalate unresolved risks with impact analysis.
  • Maintain a Risk Register specifically for Grid Compliance and an action tracking system.

Commissioning and Start-Up Facilitation

  • Assist energization and commissioning strategies from the perspective of grid compliance.
  • Review switching protocols, operating procedures, and grid code demonstration prerequisites.
  • Support initial energization, synchronization, performance evaluations, and operational demonstrations.
  • Engage in readiness reviews for start-up and oversee operational handover tasks.
