Role Overview

Step into a Sustainability Analyst Graduate role where you engage directly with authentic data, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and address real-world sustainability challenges within an evolving energy sector. This permanent position is part of the Corporate Affairs, Governance and Sustainability team and provides hands-on experience in a complex energy company.

The role centers on sustainability reporting, bridging multiple areas such as strategy, risk management, data handling, and operations. While not embedded in these teams, you will work closely to obtain, analyze, and verify data that informs the company’s sustainability communication and performance measures. The two-year structured program will deepen your understanding of ESG frameworks (including NGER and AASB S2), data analytics, stakeholder interaction, and communication.

Program Kick-off

Your graduate journey begins in Melbourne, where the first week includes connecting with your cohort, exploring Alinta Energy’s sites in high-visibility gear, and joining live customer contact centre calls.

What You Will Do

Support the collection and analysis of sustainability and ESG data.
Handle real datasets to validate business inputs and draw insights.
Conduct research on sustainability frameworks, trends, and industry standards.
Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to gather valuable information.
Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and communication content.

Candidate Profile

Ideal applicants are inquisitive graduates passionate about sustainability and skilled at transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights. You should be eager to understand how sustainability integrates within business operations.

Currently completing or recently completed a degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, or related fields.
Comfortable working with data, particularly in Excel.
Show enthusiasm for sustainability and climate reporting.
Able to navigate ambiguity and work with incomplete or raw data.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Organized, dependable, and motivated to grow in a dynamic environment.
Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI is advantageous.

Eligibility Requirements

Available to commence full-time employment in February 2027.
Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or an Australian permanent resident.
Graduated or expected to graduate in 2025 or 2026.
