GCP Data Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer specializing in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to architect, build, and maintain scalable, cloud-native data platforms. This role involves hands-on work with BigQuery, Dataflow, ETL/ELT pipelines, and modern data engineering techniques to support enterprise analytics and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support scalable data pipelines on GCP.
• Build and refine ETL/ELT workflows for both batch and streaming data processes.
• Create data ingestion frameworks integrating diverse data sources.
• Implement data transformations, orchestration, and automation using various GCP services.
• Develop and maintain enterprise data models, data marts, and data warehouses.
• Optimize BigQuery datasets, queries, views, and storage architectures.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and governance across data platforms.
• Monitor and resolve issues with production data pipelines.
• Collaborate with stakeholders including business users, analysts, architects, and app teams to meet data needs.
• Support analytics, dashboards, reporting, and AI/ML initiatives through effective data delivery.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment processes for data solutions.
• Manage cloud resource usage for performance and cost efficiency.
• Participate in cloud migration and data modernization efforts.
• Document technical details, data lineage, and operational procedures.

Required Skills and Experience

• 2 to 5 years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or analytics engineering.
• Practical knowledge of Google Cloud Platform services including BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Composer (Apache Airflow), Cloud Functions, Cloud Run, and IAM & Security.
• Proficient in developing and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines within cloud environments.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing concepts, and database design.
• Experience processing both batch and real-time data.
• Advanced SQL skills for query optimization, transformation, and reporting.
• Proficient programming abilities in Python; familiarity with PySpark and distributed data frameworks preferred.
• Experience working with large-scale enterprise data platforms.
• Knowledge of data governance, quality assurance, and metadata management.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps tools, version control systems such as Git.
• Understanding of API integrations and cloud data services.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills to engage with diverse teams.

Education and Eligibility

Applicants should hold a B.Tech or B.E. degree in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE).
