Functional QE Analyst / Manual Tester

Join QualityAI, the world’s foremost AI-driven Quality Engineering firm, as a Functional QE Analyst / Manual Tester based in Chicago, IL. This role is a 3-month contract position focusing on enhancing quality through meticulous manual testing and functional validation.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, document, and review test cases thoroughly.
• Perform manual testing across various platforms including web, mobile, POS terminals, and integrated systems.
• Validate complete business workflows by examining transaction logs, data capture, and downstream system operations.
• Analyze transaction data, system outputs, and spreadsheets to ensure data integrity and completeness.
• Early identification and communication of risks, defects, and requirement discrepancies.
• Active participation in daily stand-up meetings, providing updates and escalating issues promptly.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product teams for defect triage and solution implementation.
• Support system integration testing across multiple applications and devices.
• Spot gaps in requirements, design, data handling, and integration at initial stages of development.
• Maintain documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and future projects.
• Manage multiple testing assignments maintaining excellent attention to detail and quality outcomes.

Required Experience & Skills

• 3 to 6 years of experience in Quality Engineering or Quality Assurance, focusing on functional/manual testing.
• Proficiency in system integration testing, end-to-end workflow, and transaction/data validation.
• Capability to handle data-rich workflows including transaction logs and spreadsheets.
• Familiarity with defect tracking tools like Jira.
• Strong communication skills to articulate technical information using common business terminology.
• Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and accountability towards individual and team goals.
• Availability to work onsite in Chicago as needed, with reliable remote infrastructure for virtual meetings.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience with retail, gaming, POS, kiosk, or transaction-processing systems testing.
• Hands-on with mobile application testing on both iOS and Android devices.
• Basic debugging skills for browsers such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.
• Usage knowledge of API testing tools like Postman.
• Experience with Apple ecosystem devices and data management using Excel, Google Sheets, and similar tools.
• Exposure to collaborative tools like Teams, Slack, or Asana.
• Background in service industry, sales consultancy, or customer-engagement roles.
• Additional skills in web design or server administration and an artistic interest are pluses.
