Role Summary
The Food and Agricultural Products Inspector is responsible for conducting detailed inspections of food, agricultural, and seafood products to verify compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The inspector evaluates processing facilities, product quality, and operational procedures to ensure adherence to both national and international requirements.
Key Duties
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of seafood, food, and agricultural processing facilities, assessing cleanliness, sanitation, and compliance with applicable safety standards.
- Verify that seafood and food products comply with legal regulations including labeling and traceability requirements.
- Review records related to sourcing, processing, and distribution to ensure traceability and adherence to quality protocols.
- Prepare thorough inspection reports detailing observations, violations, and recommended corrective actions.
- Communicate findings effectively with clients and stakeholders, providing guidance on compliance and improvement measures.
- Stay updated on changes to food safety laws, industry standards, and market trends affecting food and agricultural products.
- Collaborate with internal teams to enhance inspection processes and client service offerings.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops aimed at clients and staff to promote food safety and quality awareness.
- Engage in ongoing improvement projects to optimize inspection methodologies and increase client satisfaction.
Candidate Profile
- A Bachelor’s degree in food science, agriculture, marine biology, or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in inspection or quality assurance roles within the food and agricultural sectors.
- In-depth understanding of food safety regulations, seafood processing standards, and best industry practices.
- Strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Capacity to work autonomously while managing multiple inspection projects effectively.
- Familiarity with relevant software tools and systems used in inspections and quality management.
