Responsibilities
- Lead and direct a skilled engineering team specializing in embedded system development.
- Oversee the full firmware development lifecycle, from hardware initialization to final product deployment.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and system architects to convert complex technical requirements into feasible plans.
- Provide senior technical mentorship and act as an escalation point for complicated system challenges.
- Promote a culture of continuous enhancement, emphasizing modern CI/CD practices and high-quality standards.
- Set strategic direction for embedded firmware integrating advanced sensor technologies like IMU, GNSS, and laser to boost heavy machinery productivity.
Required Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated leadership in managing engineering teams, including hiring and performance coaching.
- Strong programming expertise in C, C++, and Python languages.
- Practical experience with Embedded Linux systems, Yocto build frameworks, and hardware bring-up and debugging.
- A bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or comparable qualifications.
- Proficiency with development tools such as Git and Jira and familiarity with Continuous Integration methodologies.
Logistics and Work Environment
- Work location: Christchurch, New Zealand office, providing opportunities for collaboration and personal development.
- Limited travel expected, under 5% annually based on project requirements.
