Finance Controller

Overview

We seek an experienced finance expert with high attention to detail and problem-solving skills to oversee operational financial management in the DACH region. As the Controller, you will serve as a pivotal contact for the leadership team, ensuring seamless execution of all finance functions including financial reporting and payroll processes. Fluency in German and English, along with accounting qualifications, are essential to thrive in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounting activities for German and Swiss offices following company policies.
• Establish and uphold internal controls related to finance in the German and Swiss branches.
• Monitor monthly financial outcomes collaborating with department leaders.
• Coordinate with tax advisors to address compliance queries promptly.
• Reduce redundant efforts and identify cost savings while maintaining report accuracy.
• Prepare monthly profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
• Assist management by analyzing results and responding to financial inquiries.
• Oversee cash flow and reconcile bank transactions, ensuring funds are managed according to internal policies.
• Control local purchase records, nominal ledger, payroll journals, and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for German and Swiss employees.
• Verify expense submissions comply with policies, including receipt validation and tax regulations.
• Maintain monthly forecasts of income and expenses, and compile annual budgets.
• Compile data required by tax professionals.
• Generate commission statements for sales personnel.
• Monitor accounts receivable and engage customers to collect overdue amounts.
• Review and suggest improvements for finance systems and workflows.
• Create financial reports and undertake additional assignments as requested by the European Head of Finance.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proficient communication skills in both German and English, written and spoken.
• Accounting certification or a similar professional credential preferred.
• Experience with multi-currency accounting systems is beneficial.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted ERP or finance tools such as Workday, Microsoft Copilot or similar automation platforms is an asset.
• Enthusiasm for leveraging AI and automation to enhance efficiency, reduce manual workload, and improve financial reporting.
• Understanding of data protection, confidentiality, and governance concerning AI-enhanced finance applications.

Communication & Interaction

• Daily interaction with finance department colleagues and internal staff.
• Regular communication with external consultants and accountants.
• Liaisons with banks and professional advisors as needed.
