Overview
CGS Federal is looking for a Fact Witness Coordinator to join our team supporting the legal functions of a major federal agency in Charlotte, NC. This full-time, entry-level position is ideal for individuals interested in assisting the Victim Witness Unit with managing witness coordination for Federal Court trials.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver clerical support crucial for the USAO fact witness management process, assisting Victim-Witness personnel, AUSAs, legal assistants, administrative teams, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate witness management tasks before, during, and after trials, which includes working directly with witnesses and ensuring their presence for court proceedings, pre-trial conferences, and grand jury sessions.
- Handle visitor reception, phone inquiries, and questions from witnesses about court schedules, pre-trial conferences, grand jury attendance, and expense reimbursements.
- Gather necessary information and documentation to arrange witness travel and reimbursements effectively.
- Notify witnesses regarding travel details and appearance times, identify any special needs or circumstances, and when appropriate, inform the AUSA.
- Meet witnesses upon arrival at hearings or pre-trial events, provide courtroom orientation, escort them to court, ensure secure waiting areas, and collect required signatures and documentation for reimbursements.
Qualifications
- Minimum education: High School Diploma; undergraduate degree preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in word processing and data entry with the ability to retrieve and analyze information from multiple sources.
- Capabilities to establish and maintain case or project files.
- Skilled in database operations including data entry and retrieval.
- Competence in preparing, formatting, correcting, and managing reports and correspondence using word processing software.
- Experience scheduling appointments and responding to inquiries related to case information.
