Role Overview

The Fabricator in our Machine Shop plays a vital role in crafting, fitting, and adjusting components used for custom automated machinery, fixtures, and equipment. Utilizing engineering drawings and fabrication plans, the Fabricator produces accurate, high-quality parts aligned with design criteria and manufacturer standards. This position requires cooperative interaction with Engineering and Manufacturing to suggest and implement enhancements that elevate quality, functionality, manufacturability, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication documentation to establish layouts, measurements, and fabrication needs.
  • Precisely measure, cut, fit, assemble, and craft components for automated machinery and fixtures using designated fabrication tools and methods.
  • Operate equipment such as plasma cutters, band saws, drill presses, pedestal grinders, MIG/TIG welders, and hand grinders safely and effectively.
  • Select appropriate fabrication techniques, materials, and welding approaches based on project specs and engineering directives.
  • Work closely with Engineering to troubleshoot fabrication issues, propose design enhancements, and streamline manufacturing workflows.
  • Ensure fabricated parts adhere to dimensional tolerances, customer standards, company quality benchmarks, and aesthetic criteria.
  • Implement modifications in response to engineering changes and update components accordingly.
  • Inspect final products to confirm accuracy, fit, and overall quality prior to production release.
  • Apply company fabrication standards consistently while seeking opportunities to optimize processes, tooling, and manufacturing productivity.

Requirements
