Job Overview
The Expeditor role demands a good foundational understanding of expediting principles, operating with moderate guidance from team members and leaders. This position involves addressing relatively straightforward expediting challenges by analyzing potential solutions using established protocols while progressively deepening knowledge of McDermott's business operations, processes, and clientele. The incumbent leverages insights into key business drivers to efficiently resolve expediting-related matters through technical experience and sound judgment.
Responsibilities
- Manage assigned projects by thoroughly grasping each project's expediting strategy.
- Conduct expediting activities according to the assigned Expediting Level on each Purchase Order.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to monitor the status of materials and goods for projects.
- Ensure precise and prompt generation of project status updates and weekly expediting reports.
- Facilitate resolution of issues with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Scrutinize Purchase Order delivery demands to confirm alignment with project needs.
- Assess required expediting levels and workload to optimize delivery schedules in accordance with project timelines and shop requirements.
- Maintain consistent and timely updates within company systems and disseminate expediting reports to relevant stakeholders, flagging any concerns for discussion.
- Guarantee suppliers deliver all Purchase Order materials timely to keep projects on schedule.
- Collaborate with procurement management to identify and address delays including engineering, fabrication, sub-supplier management, and resource allocation problems.
- Coordinate expediting concerns among various departments, fabrication, and construction teams to fulfill project deadlines.
- Communicate with Logistics regarding any material movements under McDermott's responsibility.
- Support a strong focus on McDermott's final product outcomes across procurement, engineering, fabrication, and construction phases.
- Promote effective communication between procurement, client teams, project personnel, and suppliers.
- Apply company expediting procedures consistently according to established policies.
- Perform additional expediting-related duties as designated.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field, or alternatively, a High School Diploma/Equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Between 3 and 6 years of pertinent expediting experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with expediting processes linked to procurement operations.
- Experience handling supplier documentation and expediting materials including piping bulks, electrical bulks, instrumentation bulks, and various instrumentation devices such as regulators, gauges, and pressure safety valves.
- Knowledge or experience in expediting mechanical equipment is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills with both procurement and non-procurement colleagues.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in team environments.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
- Familiarity with materials management systems related to procurement and logistics.
- Understanding of expediting systems that support project execution workflows.
- Knowledge of the Unifi expediting methodology.
- Capability to apply expediting knowledge practically to daily responsibilities.
- Comprehension of the full material management lifecycle.
