Role Overview

The Estimator will be based onsite in Dubai, responsible for assessing architectural and interior design documents, specifications, and technical data to develop precise cost estimates for luxury retail and interior fit-out assignments. Key duties include conducting quantity take-offs, pricing materials and labor, acquiring and analyzing quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, and preparing detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and cost proposals for clients. This position requires effective coordination with designers, project managers, and procurement teams to ensure cost estimates align with design plans, budgets, and project schedules. The Estimator will also update estimates to accommodate design modifications and value engineering needs, assist in tender document preparation, monitor project costs versus estimates, and help refine estimation processes and cost data repositories.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform quantity take-offs and develop cost estimates for interior design, fit-out, and furniture projects.
• Price materials and labor accurately and source competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and cost summaries for client proposals.
• Collaborate closely with design, project management, and procurement teams to ensure estimates reflect design intent and budget constraints.
• Revise estimates in response to design changes and value engineering initiatives.
• Assist with preparation of tender documentation and track project expenditures against estimates.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimation methods and maintenance of cost databases.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proven expertise in quantity take-offs, cost estimation, and BOQ preparation specific to interior design, fit-out, and furniture sectors.
• Ability to read and interpret complex architectural drawings, technical plans, and schematics.
• Proficiency with estimation tools and spreadsheet software like MS Excel; familiarity with project management or ERP systems is advantageous.
• Knowledge of materials, finishes, fixtures, and joinery relevant to upscale retail and interior environments.
• Skilled in obtaining, comparing, and negotiating supplier and subcontractor quotations to deliver accurate and competitive pricing.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail under strict deadlines.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with design, project management, procurement, and finance functions.
• Previous experience as an Estimator in interior design, fit-out, construction, or related industries; experience in retail projects is desirable.
• Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Interior Design, or a related field.
• Capability to work onsite in Dubai and manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality standards.
