Job description
Overview
The role requires an engineer proficient in bridging technical environmental engineering practices with practical workplace safety, emphasizing legal compliance in Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS). A preferred qualification is the Post Diploma in Industrial Safety (PDIS) or a recognized equivalent from a state board.
Educational and Certification Requirements
- B.E. or B.Tech degree in Environmental Engineering.
- Certification in PDIS or an equivalent state board recognized diploma in industrial safety is preferred.
Legal and Regulatory Expertise
- Proven experience managing statutory consents and legal requirements, including handling renewals and amendments for Environment Clearance (EC), Consent to Establish (CTE), and Consent to Operate (CTO).
- Handling hazardous waste authorizations and preparing compliance reports under the Water Act, Air Act, Environment Protection Act, and Hazardous Wastes Rules.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety compliance as per Gujarat Factory Act (GFA) 1948 and associated rules.
- Support in drafting reports and responses to regulatory bodies such as GPCB, CPCB, MoEF, DISH, GIDC, NCB, and programs like GREEN, NOVEL, and CETP.
- Experience filing annual returns through online portals including Form V (Environmental Statement), Form IV (Hazardous Waste returns), audit, and compliance submissions.
- Capability to coordinate with government agencies for conducting plant or office safety visits.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Managing daily EHS operations including documentation support and reporting to the Chief EHS & Sustainability Officer.
- Monitoring Environmental Management System (EMS) performance and data, particularly related to Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Multiple Effect Evaporator (MEE), hazardous waste management, scrubbers, and emission stacks across facilities.
- Conducting risk assessments such as Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), and other risk evaluations for routine and non-routine activities.
- Assisting in incident investigations, analyzing near misses and accidents, identifying root causes, and supporting corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
