Role Overview
Great Value Hiring is seeking a remote contract English Language Specialist focused on transcription and transcript refinement. The role centers on producing accurate English transcripts, improving machine-generated output, and supporting data quality through careful tagging and annotation.
Responsibilities
- Listen to English audio and produce transcripts that are accurate, consistent, and reliable.
- Edit and polish AI-generated transcripts by fixing mistakes in spelling, grammar, and meaning.
- Apply appropriate metadata labels and annotations to improve the usefulness of the transcript data.
- Confirm that all work aligns with the required quality benchmarks and client formatting rules.
- Work with the client team to clear up uncertainties and address questions about source content.
- Manage confidential or sensitive material with care, professionalism, and discretion.
- Keep clear records of completed work and look for ways to improve the workflow.
Requirements
- Strong command of English, including excellent spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills.
- Substantial hands-on experience in English transcription and captioning.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with a careful, detail-oriented approach.
- Ability to spot and correct errors in machine-produced transcripts with high accuracy.
- Experience adding metadata tags and annotations for language datasets.
- Good time management and the ability to deliver within tight deadlines in a remote setting.
- Comfort working independently while staying receptive to client feedback and updates.
Preferred Background
- Experience with AI, speech recognition, or machine learning-related work.
- Academic background in linguistics, English, or a related field.
- Exposure to widely used transcription software or platforms.
Compensation
The position is paid at an hourly rate of USD 20 to USD 30.
