Role overview
Ryanair is hiring an Engine Workshop Manager to support the launch and daily operation of its new Engine MRO facility in Dublin. This is an opportunity to join Europe’s largest airline group at a time of significant growth, with plans to expand to 800 aircraft and 300 million guests over the next decade.
In this role, you will work alongside engineering colleagues to help ensure the workshop has the right spares, processes, people, and controls in place to support operational requirements.
Key duties
- Lead the development of Workshop Gate 2 for a new CFM56-7B and LEAP 1B engine MRO operation.
- Drive performance against safety, quality, cost, and turnaround targets.
- Put lean repair and inspection workflows in place between Gates 1 and 3, with emphasis on cleaning, NDT, inspection, balancing, grinding, and related repair activities.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and direct workshop staff while maintaining effective workshop capability and day-to-day control.
- Verify staff competence for workshop maintenance tasks and help establish the initial training plan for all Gate 2 activities.
- Support the selection of vendors and the setup of workshop tooling and equipment, ensuring calibration systems are established and maintained.
- Make sure all parts, tools, equipment, and materials are stored in line with regulatory expectations.
- Contribute to the development of the MOE, including procedures, manuals, and proposed changes submitted to Compliance Monitoring.
- Ensure workshop maintenance is completed and certified in accordance with the approved work scope, company procedures, and applicable engine manuals.
- Check that subcontract orders are processed correctly and that inspection and quality requirements under each contract are fully met.
- Manage quality issues identified through independent compliance reviews and respond to defects within the agreed timelines.
- Ensure maintenance documentation procedures and maintenance record storage requirements are followed.
- Report ERP and maintenance data errors in accordance with workshop procedures.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years’ experience in aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul, including hands-on work with CFM56 and LEAP engine Gate 2 processes.
- Previous experience working as a Gate 2 Lead or Inspector with the relevant approvals.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage projects, especially during an MRO shop ramp-up.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
- Clear, confident communication and strong people skills.
- A careful, detail-focused approach with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
