Position Overview

The Elementary School Teacher plays a crucial role in guiding young learners toward grade-level success within a virtual classroom setting. This full-time, fully remote position requires consistent engagement with students to foster confidence and academic progress. Teachers serve as the primary weekly contact for students and their families, ensure access to necessary educational technology, and monitor student progress through various platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Host weekly Zoom sessions serving as the main point of contact for students and parents, fulfilling mandated communication requirements.
Set and share clear expectations and guidelines with students and their families.
Be accessible during scheduled hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM EST, to support ongoing student learning.
Assist students in developing and adhering to individual educational plans targeted toward their grade-level goals.
Track and evaluate student progress; refer students to Academic Tutors when needed to maintain pace.
Grade assignments and update grades each semester accurately.
Ensure students complete Exact Path assessments three times annually.
Organize virtual field trips and monthly online lunch gatherings to boost student engagement.
Resolve or escalate technology issues in collaboration with the support team.
Maintain continuous communication with team leadership and participate actively in required meetings.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related discipline is required.
Possession of a valid Michigan teaching certificate is mandatory; out-of-state applicants must obtain it within three months of hire.
Prior experience teaching remotely and managing virtual classrooms is essential.
Successful passing of background checks and fingerprinting.

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with digital educational tools such as Zoom, Exact Path, Seesaw, and Edmentum.
Excellent organizational and communication abilities to handle multiple tasks effectively.

Work Environment & Schedule

This role is fully remote, allowing work from any U.S. location except the Pacific Coast region, provided reliable internet access is available. Equipment including a laptop and monitor is supplied. Employees work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM EST, participating actively in virtual meetings and student interactions. Continuous availability is expected from the start of summer training to the district's concluding end date.
