Job Overview

Prairie Bus Lines invites skilled and enthusiastic individuals to apply for the role of Dispatcher at our Red Deer location. This full-time position offers the opportunity to contribute to daily transit operations by coordinating driver schedules, managing communication channels, and assisting in administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Assign driver routes equitably, ensuring all shifts are covered efficiently.
Uphold fairness and consistency in line with the Driver Handbook and company policies.
Handle inquiries from drivers and the public professionally while resolving any operational issues.
Maintain clear, professional communication with drivers via telephone and radio dispatch.
Complete all necessary reports, documentation, and operational requests accurately and promptly.
Conduct general office and administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

Capability to multitask, stay organized, and perform effectively in a dynamic, high-pressure setting.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
Strong customer service mindset paired with courteous and professional interaction skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication; attentive listening and empathetic response skills.
Ability to operate independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Good understanding of company procedures and basic bus operating practices.
Competent map reading skills, especially of Red Deer's road networks and key points.
Effective time management and task prioritization abilities.
Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
Possess a clear criminal record.

Working Conditions

The role operates Monday through Friday with shifts scheduled within business hours from 6:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Compensation

The position offers an hourly wage of $22.24.
