Role Overview
We are looking for a proficient Digital Sub-Editor to enhance and refine content across multiple platforms such as videos, podcasts, online articles, and blogs. Working under the Chief Sub-Editor, this role demands meticulous editing to maintain accuracy, clarity, and consistency, while reflecting the unique style and tone distinctive to The National.
Key Duties
- Review and edit stories, videos, newsletters, and blog articles ensuring high standards of grammar, accuracy, and readability.
- Create compelling, SEO-friendly headlines designed to attract and engage web audiences.
- Collaborate with writers, editors, and production teams to deliver top-quality content.
- Edit video captions and coordinate with graphic teams to uphold clarity and audience engagement standards.
- Prioritize content effectively within a fast-moving newsroom setting.
- Ensure all published content strictly complies with The National's style guide and deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum six years of journalism, reporting, or desktop publishing experience.
- Proficient in using editorial content management systems (CMS).
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Detail-oriented with a comprehensive understanding of current affairs, especially those affecting the Middle East.
