About the Role
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services and digital innovation, is seeking a DevOps SRE Release Manager to join their Bangalore team. This position demands expertise in container technologies, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and release management to ensure robust, secure, and reliable application deployments.
Core Responsibilities
- Handle DevOps tasks including managing source code repositories and branching via Git.
- Monitor application and infrastructure integrity using monitoring tools such as Splunk and Datadog.
- Diagnose and resolve deployment challenges, environment issues, and production interruptions.
- Ensure system resilience, scalability, and adherence to security best practices.
- Maintain security compliance by conducting vulnerability assessments and managing their closure.
- Manage release activities including planning, coordinating, and executing releases across different environments.
- Develop and oversee release calendars and deployment timelines.
- Collaborate with development, QA, security, and business stakeholders to confirm readiness for releases.
- Perform impact and risk analyses of release activities.
- Complete all necessary approvals and change management steps before deployment.
- Document rollback plans, contingency measures, release documentation, deployment checklists, and standard operating procedures.
- Drive governance and compliance efforts around release management.
- Lead release coordination including production deployments and manage hypercare phases post-deployment.
Required Skills and Tools
- Hands-on experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficient in CI/CD pipelines and environment management.
- Solid understanding of Git version control and branching techniques.
- Experience with monitoring and log analysis tools like Splunk and Datadog.
- Familiarity with Jenkins, GitLab, Rancher, and ServiceNow platforms.
- Knowledge of security and vulnerability management tools like Fortify, Blackduck, and Aegis.
- Competence in using collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a skilled DevOps Engineer coupled with Release Management capabilities, bringing a hands-on approach to container and pipeline operations alongside strong leadership in release processes.
