Role Overview

The Data Scientist will play a pivotal role in shaping product recommendations and developing predictive models that enhance risk and marketing evaluations across lending products. This position involves collaborating with data teams and organizational stakeholders to drive insights and measurable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage machine learning models to evaluate risks and opportunities related to Earnest's lending products, improving risk assessment and marketing strategies.
• Engage in the complete machine learning lifecycle from data collection through deployment, working alongside data and infrastructure engineers to automate training and monitoring processes with business intelligence tools.
• Create ETL pipelines sourcing data from multiple origins, including company data warehouses, production databases, third-party providers, and public datasets.
• Perform experiments and causal inference analysis on pricing, marketing, and product models to maximize conversion rates.
• Write and document inferential modeling code to guide product and underwriting decisions, maintaining thorough documentation via collaborative platforms.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to accelerate solution development and present analytical findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Mentor team members on modeling best practices and model impact communication.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related discipline, with at least 4 years’ experience in data science or a similar role.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in each of the following areas:
• Designing and deploying machine learning models including regression, classification, and forecasting for underwriting, propensity, or collections.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and R for analysis, modeling, and automation.
• Expertise in product analytics, experimental design, A/B testing, and causal inference.
• Building and deploying scalable data pipelines and production-ready models using statistical and machine learning approaches.
• Problem-solving data challenges in Financial Services, E-commerce, or Fintech environments to inform decision making and optimize business processes.
