Role overview
Kforce is hiring a detail-focused Data Analyst for its Chicago, IL client. This is an on-site contract role suited to someone with a finance-oriented background and practical experience handling utility invoices and large, complex data sets. The position contributes to utility and sustainability accuracy, helps identify cost-saving opportunities, and supports data-led decisions related to utility spend and sustainability initiatives.
Experience in sustainability, energy management, or ESG reporting would be an added advantage.
What you’ll do
- Analyze utility invoice and utility data to support accurate reporting and informed business decisions.
- Help improve cost efficiency through financial analysis, reconciliation, and variance review.
- Work with large, complex data sets and present findings in a clear, actionable format.
- Support utility and sustainability-related initiatives with dependable data analysis.
- Translate technical or financial data into executive-ready insights.
What we’re looking for
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in a data analyst, financial analyst, or comparable position.
- Hands-on experience with utility invoices and utility-related data.
- Strong financial understanding, including cost analysis, variance analysis, and reconciliation.
- Advanced Excel capability, including pivot tables and formulas; macros are preferred.
- Experience using data tools such as Smartsheet, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
- Excellent attention to detail, along with strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Preferred background
- Prior work supporting sustainability, energy management, or ESG reporting programs.
- Familiarity with utility tariffs, rate structures, and related regulatory concepts.
- Exposure to utility or energy management systems such as invoice management or energy tracking tools.
- Knowledge of GHG accounting frameworks, including Scope 1, Scope 2, and utility-related Scope 3 emissions.
- Ability to turn complex data into concise, executive-level reporting.
Compensation and benefits
The role’s pay range reflects the employer’s good-faith estimate at the time of posting, and the actual amount may be higher or lower depending on factors such as education, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract, and business requirements. This range may change in the future.
Eligible employees receive access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability, and ADD insurance. Salaried employees receive paid time off. Hourly employees do not receive PTO unless required by law, though hourly employees assigned to Service Contract Act projects may qualify for paid sick leave.
This position does not include bonuses, incentives, or commissions.
