About Kira

Kira is rethinking the learning experience by applying AI to help teachers deliver personalized instruction at scale. The company is supported by leading investors and powered by a team committed to improving education through technology.

Role overview

The Curriculum & Learning Specialist will create courses, develop training assets, review quality, and support professional development delivery. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys producing excellent educational content, teaching adults, and using AI-enabled tools to improve learner outcomes while reducing teacher workload. Over time, the role can expand into more strategic and customer-facing responsibilities.

Curriculum development and content creation

  • Build courses that meet customer contract needs by combining Kira’s AI-based course creation tools with strong instructional design practices.
  • Contribute to large curriculum development efforts, including U.S. content and international programs.
  • Review all customer-facing courses before launch, including work produced by contractors, to ensure the material meets Kira’s instructional expectations.
  • Create lesson plans, vocabulary sets, pacing guides, and standards crosswalks that help districts adapt the platform to their curriculum needs.
  • Design materials with localization and multilingual use cases in mind, especially for LATAM and international government partners.

Professional development support and delivery

  • Create and keep current training materials, facilitator guides, agendas, and speaker notes for professional development sessions across domestic and international accounts.
  • Prepare contractor-friendly materials so Kira’s facilitator network can independently run sessions without losing quality.
  • Co-lead in-person and virtual PD sessions at the start of engagements, with a path toward independently facilitating assigned accounts later.
  • Track follow-up actions from PD sessions and communicate resolutions quickly to the customer and the assigned Customer Success Manager.
  • Travel when needed to deliver in-person professional development.

Quality assurance and standards alignment

  • Check all customer-facing courses and training materials before delivery, identifying instructional gaps, alignment issues, or platform inconsistencies.
  • Apply judgment to determine when AI can help and when human review is essential.
  • Keep standards crosswalks current as course content and state requirements change.
  • Ensure all curriculum reflects a “teaching with Kira” approach, focused on whole-class instruction, classroom relevance, and meaningful engagement rather than simple platform onboarding.
  • Support updates to the Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles course so it stays aligned with current College Board standards.

Reporting and documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of training activity, curriculum outputs, and session outcomes in HubSpot.
  • Share training metrics such as sessions delivered, participant counts, completion rates, and qualitative feedback with customer success leadership for reporting to customers and partners.
  • Help plan the annual professional development calendar and summer programming.

What we are looking for

  • Prior K-12 classroom teaching experience is required.
  • Strong background in instructional design, ideally across K-12 and/or higher education.
  • Genuine interest in AI-powered tools and how they can improve classroom results.
  • Ability to juggle multiple deliverables, communicate early and clearly, and work independently in a distributed, fast-paced environment.
  • Background in computer science or STEM education.
  • Spanish fluency is a meaningful plus because of the company’s growing LATAM work, including El Salvador and possible university partnerships in Puerto Rico.
  • Experience creating curriculum for multilingual, international, or non-traditional learners.
  • Familiarity with AI-based course creation platforms, or the ability to learn EdTech tools quickly.
  • Experience writing facilitator guides or contractor-ready training resources.
  • A mindset centered on practical classroom impact when using technology.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to create structure where processes are still evolving.
  • Willingness to handle repetitive foundational work carefully while growing into more strategic responsibilities over time.
  • Interest in learning how a fast-scaling EdTech company operates and contributing beyond a narrow role scope.

Compensation and benefits

The total on-target earnings for this role are $90,000 to $110,000, plus meaningful equity.

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, including a medical plan with 100% employee coverage.
  • Daily lunch credit through DoorDash while in the office, plus free DashPass for work or personal use.
  • Wellhub membership with company-paid access to premium gym networks such as Orangetheory and SoulCycle, more than 60 wellness apps including Headspace, MyFitnessPal, and Apple Fitness+, and one-on-one coaching in fitness, mental health, nutrition, and sleep.
  • 401(k) matching.
  • Pet-friendly office.
