Role Overview
The position is for a full-time Craft Baker working on-site at the Riddings location. The successful candidate will be involved in preparing, mixing, and baking a variety of breads, rolls, and confectionery items by adhering to both traditional and modern baking techniques. Key duties include precise weighing of ingredients, operating and maintaining bakery machinery, monitoring bake cycles to achieve the desired product characteristics, and guaranteeing that all products meet established standards for appearance, texture, and taste.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients by weighing and measuring according to recipes.
- Operate, clean, and maintain bakery equipment to ensure efficient functioning.
- Monitor baking times and temperatures to produce high-quality products.
- Work collaboratively within a production team to meet daily production schedules.
- Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene guidelines at all times.
- Contribute to continuous process improvements and quality enhancements.
- Be prepared for early starts or shift work aligned with production and delivery needs.
Qualifications and Skills
- Hands-on experience in mixing, proofing, baking, and finishing bread and confectionery items.
- Sound understanding of food safety practices, hygiene regulations, and safe handling of food and equipment.
- Ability to accurately follow recipes, production schedules, and company procedures.
- Physical stamina to stand for long durations, handle heavy ingredients, and work in warm bakery environments.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to thrive in a bustling production setting.
- Previous experience as a baker, pastry chef, or in commercial food manufacturing is advantageous.
- Relevant vocational certificates or formal bakery/patisserie training is a plus.
- Dependability, punctuality, and willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings or shifts.
