Role Overview

Joining under the guidance of the Engineering Supervisor, the Controls Technician 2 role involves providing critical technical support to equipment engineers. The objective is to enhance, install, validate, and transfer custom automated equipment essential for scaling manufacturing processes of current and upcoming Dexcom products. This involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams and external suppliers to meet stringent equipment specifications and project timelines.

Shift and Work Schedule

This position transitions to a Backend Day Shift starting Q4 2026, covering 12-hour day shifts on Fridays through Sundays and alternating Thursdays. The schedule operates on a 4-on/3-off and then 3-on/4-off repeating cycle. A 15% shift premium applies exclusively to weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize technical schematics, diagrams, and plans to conduct testing, checkout, and troubleshoot equipment.
• Execute performance tests on electro-mechanical assemblies with appropriate test instruments.
• Work extensively with pneumatics, electromechanical systems, PLCs, and robotic systems within a high-volume production environment.
• Operate, maintain, and test robotic and vision system equipment.
• Analyze test findings and document results diligently.
• Conduct operational system tests and fault isolation on automated manufacturing equipment.
• Support equipment development activities under project engineer supervision, including assembly, testing, validation, and executing engineering studies.
• Adhere rigorously to Dexcom's Safety protocols and Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
• Maintain and update equipment documentation including manuals and drawings as necessary.
• Perform all assigned duties complying with safety standards.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of a Level 6 or 7 qualification with a minimum of 2 to 4 years relevant technical experience.
• Proficient in interpreting scientific and technical equipment specifications documentation.
• Capable of writing routine reports, shift communications, and other correspondences effectively.
• Strong presentation skills to engage supervisors, engineers, and management.
• Practical knowledge of PLCs, automated production equipment, pneumatics, electro-mechanical systems, and packaging machinery is highly favorable.
• Experience contributing to process improvement initiatives, such as yield enhancement and downtime reduction.
• Hands-on skills to thrive in fast-paced operational environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities alongside interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of high reliability and high volume manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Skilled in technical writing related to manufacturing documentation and process development.

Travel Requirements
