Role Overview
Located in Oamaru and reporting directly to the Branch Manager, this position requires hands-on leadership for a skilled team managing a broad range of civil engineering projects. These include three waters renewals and maintenance, land development, road rehabilitation, drainage and water infrastructure works, and traffic management operations across North and East Otago.
The Contract Manager will be responsible for overseeing projects from tender submission through to successful completion, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution. Duties include maintaining strong client relationships, team leadership and development, budget and contract management, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive background in managing civil construction or infrastructure contracts.
- Solid expertise in water infrastructure and operations, notably in the Three Waters framework.
- Proven leadership capabilities with skills in motivating and developing teams.
- Strong financial savvy including budgeting, forecasting, project costing, and contract administration.
- Experience in tendering processes, quoting, and client relations management.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
- A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a closely related field is highly preferred.
