About the Role
We are seeking a Compliance Officer to manage daily compliance activities as our company expands operations across the United States and Bangladesh. This position is pivotal in ensuring the organization remains legally compliant, financially accountable, and audit-ready within both jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Guarantee adherence to all legal and corporate requirements for the U.S. and Bangladesh entities.
- Maintain all statutory records, registrations, licenses, and prepare regulatory filings timely.
- Monitor and adapt to changes in applicable laws and regulations.
- Handle VAT, income tax, and withholding tax filings including submissions to the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
- Assure correct tax application across company transactions, payroll, and payments to vendors.
- Keep abreast of tax legislation updates and filing deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with data protection standards and industry-specific regulations related to client work.
- Implement and sustain internal compliance policies; perform regular audits and close identified gaps.
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, NDAs, vendor and client agreements while assessing legal and commercial risks prior to execution.
- Track contract obligations and renewal dates systematically.
- Support both internal and external audits by maintaining detailed documentation and addressing audit findings.
- Identify and report legal, financial, and regulatory risks proactively.
- Deliver clear compliance status reports to leadership and offer guidance on compliant business practices that do not hinder operational efficiency.
- Keep policies and standard operating procedures updated from a compliance perspective.
Candidate Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of professional experience in compliance, legal, taxation, or financial regulation roles.
- A bachelor's degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines is required; candidates pursuing or holding CA, ACCA, CS, or LLB qualifications are preferred.
- Practical knowledge of VAT, NBR tax, company law, and labor law within Bangladesh.
- Strong understanding of financial regulatory compliance and contract management.
- Proficient drafting and documentation abilities coupled with competent audit management skills.
- Exemplary judgment, confidentiality, and reliability dealing with sensitive matters.
- Enthusiastic about leveraging AI tools within compliance duties and a strong desire for personal growth and learning.
